Why Trust Us?

Our team dedicated approx. 140 hours testing the functions and cooking different recipes in more than 37 best air fryers on the market, and came up with this list of top 10 air fryers with grilling functions.

Who Should Buy An Air Fryer Grill Combo?

An air fryer grill combo is recommended for anyone wanting to grill their food without setting up a big, cumbersome outdoor grill. It is beneficial if you frequently make grilled food. An air fryer grill combo offers convenience and ease of use. It also combines multiple functions in one unit, unlike an outdoor grill that is best for grilling only.

1. Ninja Foodi AG301 Grill with Air Fryer: Our Top Performer

Ninja Foodi AG301 Grill with Air Fryer - Our Top Performer

Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 indoor air fryer grill is an innovation in the splendid Ninja Family. Have this machine in the kitchen; you can grill, roast, bake, and dehydrate with one countertop appliance.

This well-designed and engineered air fryer grill provides enough space to prepare four hamburgers, five to six right-sized thighs, and two medium-sized steaks.

The working mechanism of this air fryer grill combo is the same as other Foodi air fryers. There is a heavy grill plate, so you must wait six to eight minutes until it reaches the right cooking temperature before grilling.

The bright side of this air fryer with a grill plate is that it sizzles and sears your food without giving it a burnt taste. The heat is enough to relieve you of the hassle of leaving your house to procure charcoal and propane.

The company claims the unit attains a 500F temperature and cooks 30% faster than outdoor grills. Its fast cooking verified this claim as per our firsthand experience. We grilled seafood and meat. Thanks to Cyclonic Grilling Technology, the taste and flavor of everything were perfect.

Though using oil in the air fryer is not necessary, we used oil to get the desired char grill marks. Use canola, avocado, or any other oil with a high smoke point to avoid smoke.

The roasting and baking experiment in the Ninja Air fryer did not disappoint us either. The only matter of concern is its significant footprint. But if you intend to use it all the time to cook food for the family, the large size of the air fryer does not hurt much.

Product Specs:

  • Capacity: 4 quarts
  • Cooking modes: Grill, air fry, roast, bake & dehydrate
  • Max Temperature: 500°F
  • Dimensions: 14.9″D x 14.9″W x 11.02″H
  • Weight: 14.5 Pounds

PROS

  • Spacious air fry basket
  • Simple and intuitive control panel
  • Accessories non-stick coating is PTFE/PFOA-free
  • Smokeless grill
  • Easy clean dishwasher-safe parts

CONS

  • Has a large footprint
  • Takes longer to preheat
  • Very pricey

2. PowerXL 12-in-1 Grill Air Fryer Combo: Best Value For Money

PowerXL 12-in-1 Grill Air Fryer Combo Best Value For Money

This is another power XL unit on our list with four additional pre-set settings and higher capacity. Additional functions include steaming, simmering, rice making, and sous vide.

This PowerXL stainless steel air fryer can attain 500F compared to other models. So slow cook a one-pot meal or get the perfect sear at high heat; the choice is yours.

We made air-fried chicken and steamed salmon. Both tasted as they should— tender and juicy. Thanks to its auto-shutoff feature for saving our food from overcooking or burning.

To test PowerXL’s grilling function, our team grilled fish and steaks. The char-grill marks on the food were decent. One of our team members believes the grill pan coating will chip off quickly. We will keep you updated about it.

For slow-cooking lovers, this unit can be very handy. You can prepare yogurt, rice, and beef stew with this function.

Upon unboxing, you will experience a chemical smell. But as mentioned in the instruction manual, the smell will disappear if you run a couple of dry cycles (without food). This process removed the chemical-protecting coating, and we eliminated the air fryer smell.

With all these features, we thought the price might be a deal-breaker. But a big no there too. With less than $100, it is one of the least-priced models on our air fryers with grill list.

Product Specs:

  • Capacity: 6 quarts
  • Cooking modes: Indoor grill, air fryer, slow cooker, roast, bake
  • Max Temperature: 500°F
  • Dimensions: 19.6″D x 16.2″W x 13.4″H
  • Weight: 22.5 Pounds

PROS

  • A multi-functional appliance
  • Bright LED display
  • Very quiet while in use
  • Shuts-off automatically
  • Super non-stick coating

CONS

  • Shaking food is not easy
  • Beep sound is very annoying

3. Ninja FG551 Smart XL Grill and Air Fry: Best With Baking Function

Ninja FG551 Smart XL Grill and Air Fry Best With Baking Function

Ninja FG551, unlike the AG301 Foodi, combines six intuitive functions in one body—it broils too. FG551 is slightly more pricey than AG301, but its additional functions justify the increment.

Compared to the Ninja AG301’s 6 Qt capacity, it comes with a 4 Qt capacity, more suitable for serving 3 to 4 people in one go. The only hiccup is that the unit is bulky, with 22.5 pounds of weight.

The unit has a max temperature of 500F. Ninja FG551 comes with a smart temperature thermometer probe. Our team loved this feature because we can see the exact temperature needed for the right doneness of the salmon and beef we cooked and prevent overcooking.

Unlike its older version, Ninja FG551 performs much better in all our cooking tests.

Grilling is famous for its cooking splatters. But this air fryer’s lid keeps splatters to a minimum. The added splatter guard collects the grease and reduces burning.

We coated the food with high smoke point avocado oil before cooking. We were expecting clouds of smoke to engulf the kitchen during cooking, but nothing of this sort happened.

Its non-stick interior with a ceramic coating makes cleaning super easy. We used a damp cloth to clean the unit; all the food residue came off easily.

One cannot deny the sturdy construction of this air fryer grill. However, it is a bit bulky, and you can only move it occasionally. So, you will need to have a dedicated corner for this air fryer.

Considering its functions and performance, it provides great value for the money.

Product Specs:

  • Capacity: 4 quarts
  • Cooking modes: Air fryer, grill, roast, bake, broil & dehydrate
  • Max Temperature: 500°F
  • Dimensions: 15.75″D x 16.54″W x 11.1″H
  • Weight: 22.44 Pounds

PROS

  • 6-in-1 cooking appliance
  • Smart touch-screen display
  • No smoke and less splatter
  • Grill marks are similar to an outdoor grill
  • Handle doesn’t get hot

CONS

  • Heavy & occupy a lot of counter space
  • Takes a bit longer to heat up
  • Expensive

4. NUWAVE Bravo 30QT: Best Grill Air Fry and Convection Oven

NUWAVE Bravo 30QT Best Grill Air Fry and Convection Oven

Now is the time to introduce one of the best air fryers for a large family, which combines 12 functions in its 30 QT XL unit. You can cook large amounts of food at once for family gatherings or a party.

It takes up a lot of space on your countertop, but what else would you expect from a 30Qt family-size air fryer grill? Its large cooking capacity justifies its size. The adjustable temperature range (50F to 500F) with Linear Thermal Technology lets you be creative in the kitchen and try a variety of foods.

We baked cupcakes as per package instructions on the enamel baking pan. The tray easily accommodated around 24 cupcakes. As it was our first attempt, we tuned the temperature multiple times to get them baked properly.

We used the air fryer basket for air frying buffalo chicken, and it took us only 15 minutes at 400F to cook them to perfection.

Our team discovered this air fryer grill toaster oven can accommodate about 1 kg of fries, a similar quantity of veggies, and four 3 to 5 oz. pieces of salmon.

The accuracy of this unit’s programmed temperature and timer settings is beyond impressive. We did not burn or overcook anything when using its preset cooking options.

The control panel with many buttons, a large digital screen, and an Integrated Digital Temperature Probe overwhelmed us initially. Though everything is clearly labeled on the buttons and is visible on the screen, there is a slight learning curve for using this air fryer’s control panel.

The brushed stainless steel body looks attractive, at the same time, enduring. The unit runs at 1800W—standard for most high-quality cooking appliances. Still, avoid using high-power devices in the same power outlet, as this can damage the outlet or turn off your air fryer.

Product Specs:

  • Capacity: 30 quarts
  • Cooking modes: Air fry, bake, broil, grill, dehydrate, frozen, pizza, reheat, roast, slow roast, toast, yogurt
  • Max Temperature: 500°F
  • Dimensions: 16.5″D x 20.2″W x 11″H
  • Weight: 24.35 Pounds

PROS

  • A versatile cooking appliance
  • Multi-layer cooking
  • Has a built-in temperature probe
  • Thick and non-stick grill plate
  • Extra large cooking capacity

CONS

  • Control panel is complicated
  • It takes a bit long to preheat

5. Cuisinart TOA-70 Air Fryer: Best Grill With Toaster Oven

Cuisinart TOA-70 Air Fryer Best Grill With Toaster Oven

If you need an air fryer that heats up fast for faster cooking. The Cuisinart TOA-70 air fryer’s powerful heating elements do just that for you. Even with its powerful function, the 1800-watt motor is quiet enough not to get on your nerves.

Like many standard air fryer grill combinations, it has 8 built-in functions, including the bake, grill, broil & warm options.

The temperature range (80°F to 450°F) provides good cooking options. However, one of our team members believes 500F would have been better.

Its cooking chamber is large enough to easily accommodate 3lbs of chicken wings on the air fryer rack, bake 12-inch pizza, or toast six slices in one go. We tried pre-seasoned salmon at 400F and toasted slices at 400F. The results were incredible.

The adjustable thermostat also helps with slow cooking and braising food.

The classic minimalistic design and dial-style control panel make it an excellent appliance for old adults.

Its square shape makes it easy to adjust in a corner. Ensure the unit’s back vent is not blocked by the wall. We recommend leaving a few inches of space from all sides to allow heat release.

We won’t say it is an affordable air fryer, but we listed it for people looking to buy an appliance that can air fry, grill, and bake.

Product Specs:

  • Capacity: 18 quarts
  • Cooking modes: AirFry, toast, convection bake, bake, convection broil, broil, grill, rewarm
  • Max Temperature: 450°F
  • Dimensions: 12.25″D x 15.75″W x 13.75″H
  • Weight: 23.10 Pounds

PROS

  • Versatile appliance; Bake, Grill, Broil
  • Very easy to use
  • Doesn’t require preheating
  • Quiet operation
  • 60-minute auto-shutoff timer

CONS

  • The exterior gets very hot
  • Adjusting temperature below 250F is a bit tricky

6. Ninja IG601 Foodi Air Fryer: Best PTFE/PFOA-Free Grill

Ninja IG601 Foodi Air Fryer Best PTFEPFOA-Free Grill

This Ninja IG601 Foodi is perfect for a small family wanting to cook limited quantities of food. The air fryer unit combines seven functions in its clean black finish body.

As is common with most Ninja air fryers, the unit has a long temperature range with a max limit of 500F, allowing the users endless cooking options.

This flat-top grill air fryer will crisp, sizzle, and sear your food to give a fantastic taste, just like an outdoor grill. The unit is good for both hood up and hood down functions— we used it both ways.

To prepare crispy fries, whole chicken, and delicious air-fried Buffalo wings, we tried the hood-down feature for even heat circulation around the food. Later, we tested the lid-up function. The sizzling, charring, and caramelizing was a sight to behold, not to mention the smoky aroma in the air.

Our team discovered cleaning is the only caveat of this unit. While the plates and basket are non-stick and easy to clean, the same cannot be said for the lid, it requires some elbow grease.

Another slight issue is the size. Though it can take the place of many appliances in the kitchen, the bulky design and build can still pose a slight issue. But if you focus on its performance, you might be ready to make some space for it.

Product Specs:

  • Capacity: 4 quarts
  • Cooking modes: Grill, roast, broil, bake, air fry, dehydrate, bbq griddle
  • Max Temperature: 500°F
  • Dimensions: 15.7″D x 17.4″W x 11.63″H
  • Weight: 27.5 Pounds

PROS

  • 7-in-1 appliance
  • Perfect grill marks just as an outdoor grill
  • Easily programmable timer
  • Toxic-free non-stick accessories
  • Dishwasher safe parts

CONS

  • Cord isn’t long
  • Big and bulky
  • Lid is difficult to clean

7. COSORI Smokeless Indoor Grill and Air Fryer: Best With Smart Functions

COSORI Smokeless Indoor Grill and Air Fryer Best With Smart Functions

COSORI Indoor Grill scores many points in terms of convenience. The VeSync app control and integration with Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing hands-free operations make it the best smart air fryer.

Its smart features save you from lingering in the kitchen throughout the cooking process. Sit on your comfy couch, do other things, and monitor cooking from afar.

For people, who habitually forget to shake their food midway, its shake reminder feature won’t let you do that. It will remind you to shake the food halfway.

Among all the air fryers we have discussed, it has the widest temperature range of 50F to 510F. This range will provide you with unlimited cooking options.

Like an outdoor grill, this air fryer requires preheating. It takes approximately 8 minutes to reach 400F. The grill plate’s sturdy build is why it takes this long to preheat.

Drawing from our experience, with approximately 6 quarts capacity, it can cook 22 hot dogs, 4 sandwiches, or 4 steaks (be careful about the size, though). You can serve 3-5 people per batch.

Cosori Smart XL air fryer is quieter compared to Ninja and PowerXL air fryers.

The splatter guard and smoke filter impressed us immensely throughout the cooking process. The activated carbon smoke filter reduces smoke, and the splatter guard blocks oil splatters, keeping the counter space and the kitchen clean.

If you have ample space in the kitchen cabinet, you can easily fit this 8.9 kg unit with some room to spare. However, we recommend dedicating some space to your counter for this air fryer if you intend to use it frequently.

This COSORI Indoor Grill is similar to Ninja Foodi Smart XL 6-in-1 Indoor Grill regarding capacity. However, Cosori offers remote cooking due to connectivity with Alexa and two additional functions. Even then, it is less expensive than Ninja Foodi.

Product Specs:

  • Capacity: 6 quarts
  • Cooking modes: Air frying, grill, broil, roast, bake, crisp, dehydrate
  • Max Temperature: 510°F
  • Dimensions: 16.2″D x 13.7″W x 10.4″H
  • Weight: 19.58 Pounds

PROS

  • Smoke and odor filters
  • Ceramic non-stick coating on the grill plate
  • Can set grill temp to low, med, high, & max
  • Alexa & Google Assistant voice controls
  • A quiet air fryer

CONS

  • Control panel is a bit complex
  • The cooking area is compact

8. Kalorik MAXX AFO 47267: Best Stainless Steel

Kalorik MAXX AFO 47267 Best Stainless Steel

Kalorik MAXX is a 26 Quart 9-in-1 large-capacity air fryer. It is a powerhouse for cooking a variety of food in bulk quantity. Attractive design and a beautiful stainless steel clean finish are its add-ons.

As you open the two French doors, you cannot help noticing the relatively sizeable inside space, enough to bake a 12-inch pizza with a preset baking mode. The unit is equipped with Powerful Turbo MAXX Technology that cooks food much faster than the other best air fryers on the market.

We tried baking pizza (6-7 minutes at 400F) and potato wedges (15 minutes at 400F). Pizza cooked earlier; we took it out and tossed potato wedges for even cooking. The taste, browning, or crispiness, nothing disappointed us at all.

The package includes a basket, baking tray, rack, crumb tray, rotisserie spit and forks, rack handle and rotisserie handle. All of them are well-built. There are four grooves inside to adjust various racks and trays. You can cook multiple items together and save time.

The only thing this air fryer lacks is the power cord section. It does not seem prudent to have a short power cord for such a high-voltage cooking appliance. You will have to keep it glued to one spot—near the electricity socket—all the time.

Product Specs:

  • Capacity: 26 quarts
  • Cooking modes: Air fryer, oven, grill, toaster, roaster, rotisserie, pizza oven, broiler, warmer
  • Max Temperature: 450°F
  • Dimensions: 14.57″D x 15.98″W x 14.37″H
  • Weight: 19.4 Pounds

PROS

  • Cook multiple items at a time
  • Transparent door and internal light for checking food
  • Can air fryer, bake, roast, rotisserie

CONS

  • Release smoke during cooking
  • Bulky and large footprint

9. T-fal Easy Fry & Grill Combo: Best Basket-Style

T-fal Easy Fry & Grill Combo Best Basket-Style

With a weight of 13.01 pounds, this is one of the lightweight air fryers we reviewed in the grill combo category. The unit weighs less, but its 5.9 quarts capacity which is enough to cook food for 4 adults.

The basket size is large enough to air fry over 2 pounds of fries with just two tablespoons of oil for greasing. The non-stick grill plate easily accommodated three large burger patties and two medium-sized steaks when we tested the unit.

Excess oil and grease drip go under the grill plate. We used aluminum foil for easy cleaning afterwards.

Grilling steak with some veggies around it is a piece of cake in this air fryer. We chose the grilling preset, and the steak was ready in 15 minutes. We also got the mandatory char-grill marks on the meat and the veggies.

A slight glitch about this air fryer is that the grill plate doesn’t sit well in the air fryer drawer; it loosely rests on a ledge. Though it allows even heat circulation, you cannot dump air fryer content (fried, wedges, wings, etc.) without the plate falling out with them.

With one-touch 8 preset functions, there is often no need for customized settings unless you have distinct preferences about how your food should be cooked.

You can easily accommodate the unit in the space below the cabinets in your kitchen. But we don’t recommend it because the unit has a rear vent that releases some heat. We advise placing the air fryer on the kitchen counter for proper ventilation instead of a cabinet.

Product Specs:

  • Capacity: 5.9 quarts
  • Cooking modes: Air frying, grilling, baking, broiling, fries, chops, shrimp, pizza
  • Max Temperature: 400°F
  • Dimensions: 10.94″D x 13.31″W x 13.11″H
  • Weight: 13.01

PROS

  • 8 one-touch cooking modes
  • Intuitive digital touch panel
  • Less splatter and no smoke
  • Highly budget-friendly appliance

CONS

  • Parts are not dishwasher safe
  • Surface attracts oil and fingerprints

10. PowerXL Air Fryer Indoor Grill: Best With Rotisserie Function

PowerXL Air Fryer Indoor Grill Best With Rotisserie Function

PowerXL air fryer grill combines 8 functions and accompanies top-graded material accessories, including a griddle pan, rotisserie spit set, and drip tray.

It has approximately 4.8 quarts capacity, so don’t expect it to cook large meals for you. As per our experience, this can prepare food for 3 people.

We accommodated a whole chicken on the wide non-stick grill pan and got the desired char grill marks while the drip tray collected all the grease and food juices. Be careful, don’t choose chicken over 3.5 pounds because it won’t fit well inside the chamber.

Using the grill feature, we tried four homemade burgers and hot dogs to see how the air fryer performs. Hot dogs crisped up nicely, and burgers got not the exact but decent char marks.

Our team was disappointed that its smoke extraction technology wasn’t much effective because the unit smoked like an outdoor grill.

As for the control panel, it has dials for choosing the temperature, time, and function. Even older adults who are not good at using a digital air fryer control panel will find it easy to operate.

There are two minor issues that our team identified while testing. The door gets hot, so you need to be careful with handling, and you need a few trial-and-error attempts to get your recipe right.

PowerXL air fryer with grill option is much more affordable than Ninja air fryers, but you have to compromise on the quality slightly.

Product Specs:

  • Capacity: 5 quarts
  • Cooking modes: Grill, air fry, broil, bake, toast, bagel, rotisserie, reheat
  • Max Temperature: 450°F
  • Dimensions: 15″D x 19″W x 10″H
  • Weight: 23.9 Pounds

PROS

  • 8-in-1 kitchen appliance
  • Rapid air crisp technology
  • See-through door with interior light
  • Easy-to-clean nonstick parts

CONS

  • Smokes like an outdoor grill
  • Gets hot from outside

How You Can Choose The Best Air Fryer With Grill Function

Here are some key points that every buyer must consider before buying an air fryer with a built-in grill.

Footprint Of The Air Fryer

Most air fryers with grilling come as a countertop appliance. So, you need to consider the unit size against the space on the kitchen counter. If you have limited counter space, choose a compact air fryer that can easily adjust on the countertop or fits in the kitchen cabinets.

Cooking Capacity

You may prefer a compact air fryer grill unit, but remember that size of the air fryer is connected to the capacity. If you are a family of 2 to 3 people, you can get a 3 to 4 Qt air fryer. But for bigger families of 4 people and above, you must have at least a 6 Qt air fryer.

With this capacity, you can grill four burgers and four medium-sized steaks in one go. On the contrary, opting for a smaller air fryer means you have to cook food in batches which will be extremely time-consuming.

Time And Temperature Settings

Undoubtedly, everyone wants their food to be perfectly cooked. You must ensure multiple temperatures and time settings to cover a range of food items. Some air fryers with grills also come with preset cooking options to streamline the process.

Easy To Use

Some air fryer combos come with complicated controls and settings. They often waste time by providing you with a complex learning curve. Therefore, go for a combination of air fryer and grill that is easy to use and comes with a detailed user manual.

Smoke Release

It is common for an air fryer indoor grill to produce some smoke while cooking. High-quality air fryer units come with smoke filters that reduce the smoke somewhat. Anyone claiming their air fryer grill is completely smokeless would be an exaggeration.

Cleaning And Maintenance

When buying an air fryer grill, ensure the availability of a drip pan or grease collector. These accessories will collect all the excess grease, making cleaning easier after cooking. As for the residues and stuck-on food, make sure the accessories are non-stick and ceramic-coated.

Are air fryer grills worth it?

Air fryer grills are worth a purchase if you are a fan of grilling food and want to taste grilled meat and veggies, even when setting up an outdoor grill is impossible. An outdoor grill is mostly big; preparing the whole unit is often a hassle for cooking smaller quantities.

Can an air fryer be used as a grill?

Yes, you can conveniently use air fryers as a grill. In fact, because of hot blowing air and consistent temperature, grilled food such as steaks comes out perfect every time. Air fryers are ideal when you don’t want to heat the whole grilling equipment.

What’s better George Foreman grill or air fryer?

Both are good appliances. The air fryer uses hot air, and the George Foreman grill uses hot plates. The latter gives you nice grilling char marks. Still, one cannot deny an air fryer’s even heat circulation and multi-functionality.

What is difference between grill and air fryer?

The main difference between a grill and an air fryer is the use of oil. An air fryer can cook food without oil. But the grilling function requires some amount of oil for cooking food. Overall, an air fryer is a much healthier cooking option than a standalone grill, and more fat drippings are cooked in the air fryer, so extra calories somehow leave your food.

Can you put foil in air fryer?

Using foil in an air fryer helps with easy cleaning. Fat drippings fall on the foil instead of the air fryer body. But foil cannot be considered the most suitable option, especially when cooking acidic foods such as tomatoes, citrus fruits, and marinades with vinegar or lemon juice.

Can I make steaks in air fryer?

Yes, you can make steaks in an air fryer. Like traditionally cooked steaks, the exterior of the air-fried steaks gets seared due to circulating hot air. In fact, some users opine that steaks cooked in an air fryer come out much better than in an iron skillet.

Wrapping Up!

Most people are switching to air fryers because it is a healthier alternative to deep-frying. But, if your air fryer unit combines the function of many different cooking appliances, such as a grill, preparing food becomes even more convenient. Considering this, we conducted extensive research and tested tens of air fryers to find our list of the 10 best air fryers with a grill. You can confidently choose any air fryers mentioned above as they are the best in their category.
